Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ cup brewed espresso (cooled)
  • 2 tbsp hazelnut butter (or ground hazelnuts)
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp erythritol or monk fruit sweetener (to taste)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes (as required)
  • Optional: whipped cream and cocoa dust for topping

Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Glasses for serving

Method

  1. Brew Coffee: Begin by brewing a strong shot of espresso or black coffee and cool it to room temperature. Cooled coffee is used in order to avoid the smoothie turning watery.
  2. Add the base ingredients: Add almond milk, cooled espresso, hazelnut butter, cocoa powder, heavy cream and your preferred keto sweetener of choice to a blender.
  3. Add Ice: Toss in a few ice cubes to add refreshing thickness and cold texture to the smoothie.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend the mixture on high speed until it turns creamy, frothy, and lump-free. This step ensures that all ingredients are well combined.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Divide the sugar free hazelnut mocha low carb smoothie between two glasses, add whipped cream or a dusting of cocoa powder on top, and sip your tasty Keto Hazelnut Mocha Smoothie at once.

Notes

  • And use cold espresso, in order to not dilute your breakfast smoothie.
  • If you lightly toast the hazelnuts first, they will have a much fuller taste.
  • Add protein powder for a full meal replacement.
  • If it’s not sweet enough, add some more sugar to taste.
  • To make a dairy free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream.
