Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour
  • 2 tbsp psyllium husk powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowls
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Oven

Method

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat you oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In one large mixing bowl add almond flour, coconut flour, psyllium husk powder, baking powder and salt.
  3. Whisk Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, olive oil (or melted butter), and apple cider vinegar until well combined.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Add the wet ingredients into the dry and mix thoroughly.
  5. Put in Water: Slowly pour in warm water and stir into dough. Cool for 5 minutes so it thickens.
  6. Shape Buns: Divide dough into 4 equal portions and shape into round buns. Place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake until golden brown, for about 25 minutes.
  8. Cool & Serve: Let the rolls cool down for 10 minutes before slicing, serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to use finely ground almond flour for optimal texture.
  • Do not leave out the psyllium husk — it is what gives the buns some structure.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for that traditional burger bun look.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Toast, before serving, for added flavour.
