Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg or Italian seasoning

Equipment

  • 1 Medium Saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon or whisk
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Grater (for fresh parmesan)

Method
 

  1. Melt the Butter: Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until beginning to foam.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Pour in the Cream: Carefully add the heavy cream and stir until everything is mixed well. Simmer gently and cover for 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add the Cheese: Lower the heat to low and add the grated parmesan. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Season and Serve: Season with salt, pepper and spice if desired. Serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • I also do recommend freshly grated parmesan as it will give the Alfredo Sauce a better texture and taste.
  • Bring sauce to a gentle simmer to prevent the sauce from curdling; do not let boil.
  • Cream Cheese — adds richness and thicknes
  • Add a splash of broth to thin the sauce if needed.
  • Leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days and you can gently reheat on the stove.
